Nadie convence a nadie.

Verdad. Aparecen incluso en parejas muy sólidas. Lo importante es hablarlos con cariño.
Mito. Se puede parar en cualquier momento. Para eso está la palabra clave.

Threesome: the couple's agreement

By Mia & Marco · 6-min read · Earn flames 🔥 as you read

Ever since we wrote about the threesome fantasy, we've received lots of messages with the same question: "What if one day we actually want to do it?" Here's what we've learned from so many conversations (and from the many couples who wrote to us): a threesome done well doesn't start in bed. It starts at the kitchen table, over coffee, with an agreement. And that agreement belongs to both of you, always.

Before anything else, the most important part: this article isn't an invitation or a nudge. Exploring is optional. Keeping it as a fantasy is a beautiful way to live it too. And "let's not" is a complete answer.

Where are you two right now?

1. When the threesome topic comes up, you…

2. If one of you suddenly said "no"…

3. How well do you handle jealousy?

1. First: do you both want it?

Not "one wants it and the other goes along." Both. If one of you feels they have to say yes so as not to disappoint, not to lose their partner, or "to make them happy," that isn't a yes. Nobody talks anybody into anything. The honest question is: what draws each of us to this? Sometimes you'll find that what excites you is novelty, feeling desired or the thrill of watching… and that can be lived in a thousand different ways, just the two of you.

Before talking about "who," talk about what excites you about the idea. Each of you whispers it in the other's ear. That conversation alone turns up the heat.

2. The before agreement: what you discuss with your clothes on

Mia and Marco
The agreement is written with four hands, coffee and no rush.

This is the heart of it all. Sit down, with no alcohol involved, and go over it together:

  • Limits: what's a yes, a no and a "maybe, later on." What's only yours stays only yours.
  • Who: a consenting adult who also wants this and understands the agreement. Many couples prefer not to involve close friends, coworkers or exes, to protect everyone's life the next morning.
  • Where: a neutral place where you both feel comfortable. Some couples prefer not to use their own bed.
  • Protection: discussed beforehand, not in the moment. Recent testing for everyone, barrier methods and no exceptions. We share ideas in Protection without killing the magic.
  • Veto right: either of you can say "not this person" or "not today," no explanation needed.
  • Safe word: one word that stops everything, instantly, no questions and no sulking.
Spicy note: write the agreement by hand on a pretty sheet of paper. Sign it with a kiss. It's your sexiest contract… and you can tear it up or rewrite it whenever you like.

3. During: the couple comes first

The golden rule: you two are the team, and the other person is a guest to be treated with respect and care. Glances, a hand on the back, a knowing smile. Take pauses to ask: "Are you okay?" "Keep going?" An agreed signal (squeezing a hand twice, for example) lets you ask without words.

And if something doesn't feel right, you use the safe word and stop. No negotiating in the heat of the moment, no asking for "just a little longer." Stopping in time doesn't ruin the night: it saves it. The same goes for the third person: their consent matters just as much as yours, and they can say no at any moment too.

Agree on a secret gesture just for the two of you, like a kiss on the forehead. It means "you're mine." In the middle of everything, it's worth gold.

4. After: the care nobody tells you about

What happens afterwards matters as much as what comes before. That time of care, often called aftercare, is for the two of you: a bath together, holding each other, a tasty snack, sleeping tangled up. The next day, an honest talk: what did you love? What didn't you? How do you feel about us?

Jealousy may show up, even if everything went well. It's normal. It doesn't mean something is broken; it's a signal that deserves attention and tenderness. Listen to each other without getting defensive and without judging. And if jealousy or insecurity sticks around longer than you'd like, a couples therapist can help enormously.

Mia and Marco
The best part of the night: being just the two of you again.
The next day, make an Oops! just the two of you, slowly, eyes locked. Many couples say it's the best one of all.

5. "Let's not" is always valid

Before, during or after. The day before, at the hotel door or halfway through. "Let's not" needs no justification, and whoever hears it answers with a hug, not a reproach. It's also valid to try once and decide it's not for you, or to discover that what you enjoy most is the fantasy, whispered in each other's ear. None of those outcomes is a failure.

Spicy note: if you decide it stays a fantasy for now, play at imagining it together with the lights off. Sometimes what's told is more thrilling than what's done.

🤔 Myth or truth?

Tap each card to find out.

Myth. A fantasy speaks of curiosity, not of lack. Talking it through calmly usually brings you closer, not further apart.
Truth. It shows up even in very solid couples. What matters is talking about it with care.
Myth. You can stop at any moment. That's what the safe word is for.

✅ Our agreement
