Mito. Muchas infecciones no dan síntomas. Por eso existen las pruebas.
Verdad.

Giren.

Protection without killing the magic

By Mia & Marco · 6-min read · Earn flames 🔥 as you read

Let's be honest: for years, the word "protection" sounded to us like a school talk, a clinic pamphlet, that awkward moment when everything stops to dig through a drawer. Until Mia said one sentence that changed everything: "What if we make it part of the game?"

Since then, taking care of ourselves stopped being a pause and became another ingredient. In this article we'll tell you how: condoms that add instead of subtract, which gel goes with what, testing as a couple's rytual, cleaning your treats, and those conversations that feel awkward but are worth having.

How "protected" are you two?

1. When it's condom time…

2. Do you know which gel goes with what?

3. Talking about testing or contraception…

1. The condom as part of the game

The secret to keeping the condom from killing the magic is to stop treating it like paperwork. Keeping it within reach (on the nightstand, not at the bottom of a drawer) solves half the problem. The other half is attitude: if one of you puts it on calmly, with kisses and eye contact, it stops being a pause and becomes part of the foreplay.

Try different brands, sizes and textures until you find one you both like. Always check the expiration date and that the wrapper is intact. Keep them away from heat: the glove compartment and your wallet aren't good spots.

Let her put it on the captain, slowly, without stopping the kisses. What used to be a pause becomes the most anticipated moment.

2. Which gel goes with which condom?

This matters, and almost no one explains it well:

Water-based gel: works with all condoms and all treats. The safest option to start with. Silicone-based gel: works with latex condoms and lasts longer, but isn't recommended with silicone treats, since it can damage them over time. Oils (like coconut or massage oils): delicious for massage, but they weaken latex condoms and can make them break. If you use oil for the massage, clean your hands before moving on to the condom.

Spicy note: Naughty Coconut and the Melting Candle are for the massage beforehand. When the condom comes out, switch to water-based gel. Two moments, two allies.

3. Testing: a couple's rytual

Our "health date": nervous going in, laughing coming out.

STI tests aren't an accusation or a sign of distrust. They're an act of love. Many infections have no symptoms, so the only way to know is to get tested.

It's a good idea to get tested at the start of a relationship, before you stop using condoms with a new partner, and then as often as your health professional recommends for your situation. We turned it into a rytual: we go together, hold hands in the waiting room and then go to breakfast at our favorite spot.

When the results come in, celebrate. A dinner, a bottle of wine, the Red Passion Bodysuit debuted that night. Taking care of yourselves deserves a prize.

4. Clean treats, happy nights

Treats need care too. The rule is simple: clean them before and after each use with warm water and mild soap (or a toy cleaner), let them air-dry completely and store them in their pouch, apart from each other.

If you share a treat, wash it before passing it to the other person or put a fresh condom on it. And always choose body-safe materials, like medical-grade silicone: they're easier to clean and don't harbor bacteria.

Turn cleanup into a shower together: the treats in the sink, you two under the water. The "after" can be lovely too.

5. The contraception talk

A well-stocked nightstand: half the work is already done.

Preventing pregnancy isn't one person's job. It's a conversation for two. There are many options (pills, IUD, implant, condoms, permanent methods and more), and each has different benefits and effects. The key point: the condom is the only method that also helps protect against infections.

Talk about what you want, how each of you feels about your method and whether anything has changed. To choose or switch methods, talk to a health professional: there's no single option that's perfect for everyone.

Spicy note: a man who asks "how do you feel about your method? Can I help with anything?" is about as sexy as it gets. Trust us.

6. When to see a doctor

No alarm, just clarity: book a visit if you notice burning, itching, unusual discharge, sores, warts, pain during intimacy or unusual bleeding. Also if a condom broke or you're worried about a possible exposure: some options work best the sooner you ask. In every case, talk to a health professional. Seeing a doctor early is the fastest way back to the fun.

🤔 Myth or truth?

Tap each card to find out.

Myth. Oils weaken latex. With condoms, use water-based or silicone-based gel.
Myth. Many infections have no symptoms. That's why testing exists.
Truth. Used correctly, it's the only method that does both at once.

🎡 Fun protection wheel

Taking care of yourselves can be a game too. Spin.
