6. Disfraces opcionales, conversación obligatoria

No necesitan disfraces.

Role-play for beginners

By Mia & Marco · 6-min read · Earn flames 🔥 as you read

The first time we tried role-play, Marco walked into the bedroom saying "good evening, miss" in such a serious voice that Mia collapsed on the bed laughing. We lasted ten seconds in character. And it was still one of the most fun nights of the year. Because that's the point: not acting well, but playing at being someone else together for a while… and rediscovering each other along the way.

Which scenario suits you two?

1. If you were movie characters, you'd be…

2. What makes you most curious is…

3. How much production do you want?

1. What role-play is (and isn't)

Role-play as a couple is simply playing "let's pretend." Pretend you don't know each other. Pretend you're somewhere else. Pretend it's the first time. You don't need acting skills, costumes or a script. You need a playful mood and trust.

What it isn't: a way of asking your partner to be someone else because "this isn't enough." Or something you do to please if you're not into it. It's a game between the two of you, and you only play if you both want to.

Spicy note: after twenty years together, the most daring thing might be asking "so, what do you do for a living?" with a flirty look.

2. The rules before the game

Role-play works because it has clear rules. Before you start, agree on three things:

A safe word. A word that, if either of you says it, stops the game instantly, no questions and no hurt feelings. We use "avocado." Breaking character isn't failing: it's looking after each other.

Limits. What's in and what's out. If something wasn't discussed beforehand, the answer is no. This gives freedom rather than taking it away: with clear limits, you let go more.

Laughing is allowed. You'll laugh. It's part of the game. Let it happen, breathe and get back into character… or don't. A night that starts with laughter and ends in an Oops! is a perfect night.

Write your limits and safe word on a little card and seal it with a kiss. That card is already the invitation to play.

3. Scenario 1: strangers at a bar

Mia and Marco
"Come here often?" Never fails.

The classic starter. You can do it at a real bar (arrive separately and "meet" at the counter) or in your own kitchen turned lounge. Each of you invents a name and a job. He tries to win her over; she decides whether to give him her number… or not.

The fun is in flirting like the first time: long looks, a hand brushing another while reaching for a glass, bold questions. No extra touching until she says "shall we go?"

At the bar, she slides him a napkin with just one word written on it: "room." What happens next is up to you.

4. Scenario 2: hotel night

No booking required (though if you can, do it!). Turn your bedroom into a suite: fresh sheets, folded towels, a candle, a chocolate on the pillow. One plays the guest arriving tired from a trip; the other, the one who welcomes them with everything ready.

This scenario is perfect if you'd rather go gentle: more mood than character. A massage with Amber Vanilla, soft music and a "do not disturb" on the door do the rest.

Spicy note: hang a real "Do not disturb" sign on your bedroom door. Seeing it during the day, knowing what it means tonight, is half the game won.

5. Scenario 3: the date we never had

This is our favorite. Think of a date you never had: the one you couldn't afford when you were dating, the trip that kept getting postponed, the fancy dinner that never happened. Tonight you have it, as if you'd just met.

She gets ready in one room, he in another. He knocks on the door (of your own home). You introduce yourselves, kiss on the cheek, get nervous. And at the end of the night, one asks: "may I give you a real kiss?"

The overdue date: it's never too late.
Saying goodnight at the door, she says: "I don't usually do this on a first date…" and invites him in. The rest is history… your history.

6. Costumes optional, conversation required

You don't need costumes. A blazer, some glasses, a different perfume or the Lace Kimono is enough to flip the switch. What is required is talking afterwards: what did you like? what would you change? again? That conversation, cuddled up, is where the game turns into intimacy.

If talking about what you like is hard, we have a guide for that: how to talk about what you like.

🤔 Myth or truth?

Tap each card to find out.

Myth. No one's handing out Oscars. What matters is playing together, not doing it well.
Truth. Knowing you can stop at any moment is what lets you let go.
Myth. Laughter is connection. Many of the best nights start with a fit of giggles.

🎡 Who are you tonight?

Can't decide? Let the wheel choose.

Ready?

✅ Before the curtain rises

Tick it together. It's saved on this phone.

Our advice: start with the simplest scenario and give yourselves permission to do it badly. What matters isn't the character, it's the connection. Games has more ideas, and Mia & Marco's Boutique has treats like Secret Date or Tied in Love for when you want to level up.
